As kids across the Tri-Cities start back to school, a lot of parents are still struggling with their kids’ sleep schedule. Establishing a night time routine can be challenging for the whole family. Questions such as how much sleep, how to get the most restful night sleep, tips on falling asleep are ones that most Americans struggle to answer.

There is plenty of scientific research on the topic of sleep, but for the average person it can be difficult to keep up with the current recommendations. For example, a study recently published in the Journal of the American Heart Association says people who sleep more than 10 hours per night were 30-percent more likely to die prematurely. A shocking statistic to many, considering most of people struggle to get enough sleep, no one really thinks about the dangers of getting too much.

In hopes to bring some insight on the topic of sleep, I was recently interviewed by Livewire’s radio host, Darrell Moody. In the interview, I answer some of the most common questions regarding how to get a more restful night’s sleep and how to get the right amount for you and your family. If this is a topic you’d like more information on listen to the excerpts from our conversation are in sound clips below.
